Aneesa Strings is a multifaceted bassist, vocalist, and composer from Oakland, California, celebrated for her innovative contributions to jazz, pop, and R&B. Starting her professional journey at just 13, she recorded her debut jazz album early, showcasing her exceptional talent. She earned her Bachelor’s in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern California in 2014, during which she released her first solo album, A Shift In Paradigm, produced by Patrice Rushen and featuring the single “Simpin.”
In 2016, Aneesa completed her Master’s in Jazz Studies at Michigan State University, where she led the Bebop Spartans Big Band under Rodney Whitaker. Her critically acclaimed sophomore album, WAYS, released in 2019, further solidified her reputation. Aneesa has toured globally with notable artists like Duckwrth, José James, and Kandace Springs, bringing her dynamic performances to audiences across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Beyond her performing career, Aneesa Strings is a creative leader and influencer in the music industry. Her dedication to mentoring young artists and advocating for diversity in music makes her a vital voice in the artistic community. Her work has been featured on platforms like Essence, Genius, and Hypebeast, highlighting her impact as both an artist and cultural influencer. Aneesa’s artistry continues to evolve as she works on new projects, collaborating with other musicians and expanding her creative reach.
