YMCO Graduating Class of 2016
Berklee College of Music, Class of 2019

Claire Chaix is an accomplished arranger, composer, and multi-instrumentalist hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area. Her musical journey began at the tender age of three with piano lessons, followed by viola studies at six, which ignited her enduring passion for string instruments and ensemble performance. Throughout her formative years, Claire immersed herself in various musical endeavors, including choir singing and orchestral participation, laying a solid foundation for her diverse musical career.

During her high school years, Claire expanded her instrumental repertoire by learning the cello and delved into arranging contemporary pieces for her school's orchestra. Claire's academic pursuits led her to the Berklee College of Music, where she co-founded the Underground Choir, an a cappella chamber group dedicated to performing and recording student compositions. Her studies in Contemporary Writing and Production, combined with her classical background and love for jazz harmony, funk, R&B, and 80s music, have culminated in a distinctive compositional style that transcends traditional genre boundaries.

In 2024, Claire returned to her alma mater, Bishop O'Dowd High School, as the choir teacher and drama music manager. In this role, she emphasizes the importance of the arts in fostering life skills such as collaboration, accountability, and emotional awareness among students.
