YMCO Wows the Audience at Gala Affair

On May 19th, the Young Musicians Choral Orchestra sang its way into the hearts of many at the annual gala fundraiser for The Find Your Light Foundation. Josh Groban, world-renowned singer, established the foundation three years ago at the suggestion of some of his friends. In that short amount of time, he has raised and given away millions of dollars to bring the arts into the lives of under privileged children.

On this evening, the grand ballroom at the Ritz Carlton Hotel Half Moon Bay was transformed into a beautiful site for a dinner, an auction and a show-stopping performance with the YMCO chorus and special guest, Jason Mraz. The chorus sang excerpts from “Les Misérables,” backed up Jason Mraz on his hit tune, “I Won’t Give Up” and closed the show backing up Josh Groban on his huge hit, “You Raise Me Up.”  They received very enthusiastic applause and a standing ovation! This was indeed a real triumph for YMCO.  The chorus was trained by Jim Meredith, YMCO Voice Department Chair. The amount of money raised for the evening was one million dollars! John and Marcia Goldman were the honorary hosts for the fête.

The performances with Josh Groban and Jason Mraz can be seen on YouTube and on the website for The Find Your Light Foundation.
